COLUMBUS, Ohio—Rapid prototyping, manufacturing and product development company Laser Reproductions recently collaborated with Microtech Small Arms Research (MSAR) to develop stock, trigger mechanism, grip and magazine round prototypes for MSAR’s new firearm.
Laser Reproductions developed the prototypes using the supreme clear DSM Somos® 11120 stereolithography (SLA) resin. Laser Reproductions then painted the models to give them the aesthetic look of an authentic gun.
MSAR contracted Laser Reproductions to produce the prototypes with a rapid turnaround time as the company had an approaching deadline for the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) show in Orlando, Florida, in January 2007. The SHOT show is the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry’s largest trade show.
“At Laser Reproductions, we are always ready to take on a new challenge,” said Laser Reproductions President Paul G. Bordner II. “We are very proud that our technology and capabilities allow us to deliver a quality product quickly.”
MSAR is a division of Microtech Knives Inc. based in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
