COLUMBUS, OhioRapid prototyping, manufacturing and product development company, Laser Reproductions, is pleased to announce that it now offers the new impact resistant stereolithography (SLA) resin, DMX-SL 100, to its current material offerings.

The addition of the DMX-SL 100 material to Laser Reproductions’ list of available materials is an ongoing initiative to ensure the company offers the best possible range of prototyping solutions to industrial design firms and original equipment manufacturers

DMX-SL 100, created by DSM Somos®, is a material that possesses incomparable strength at levels of high impact and is resistant to breakage. The resin can produce highly-complex parts that are three to four times stronger at high levels of impact than those made from standard resins. DMX-SL 100 gives parts a superior surface finish over other rapid prototyping technologies such as sintering. The resin is ideal for use in functional testing purposes, as well as low volume manufacturing applications where toughness is required, such as door pieces, dashboard, duct work and living hinge designs.

The material’s ability to produce custom-built parts that are accurate, resistant to high impact levels and have excellent detail advances Laser Reproductions’ potential to manufacture parts directly.

“The DMX-SL 100 material allows us to be one step closer to direct manufacturing using the SLA process,” said Paul G. Bordner II, president of Laser Reproductions. “With the increased impact strength and elongation, our customers can now view the SLA process as more then just a prototype. This is part of our company’s commitment to become a leader and an innovator in our industry.”

Laser Reproductions has an agreement with DSM Somos® that designates it as an exclusive Laser Reproductions has an agreement with DSM Somos® that designates it as an exclusive provider of the DMX-SL 100 material until July.
With 15 in-house SLA machines, Laser Reproductions ranks in the top five percent in capacity among all rapid prototyping service bureaus in the country.
